Born 1956. American philosopher and activist. Currently Maxine Elliot Professor of Comparative Literature at the University of California, Berkeley.  
Judith Butler, who was born on the 24th of February 1956 in Ohio. She studied at the Yale University where she received her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in philosophy. Butler was already in her time as a student an activist. She still fights for equal rights for women and wanted to give women a much more important role. In one of her speeches, she mentioned that she do not identify as a woman herself, as she ist non-binary. Judith Butler is currently engaged with Wendy Brown, a feminist as well, and they have a son together. Beyond her activity of being an activist, she is teaching philosophy at the University of California. Moreover, she wrote several books dealing with diversity, especially the role of women in our society. Her most well-known books are: "Bodies That Matter (1996)" and "Gender Trouble (1990)".
