Talk:Elizabeth Angela Marguerite Bowes-Lyon
Edward VIII "had to retire from his position because of an affair with an American woman": no. He decided to abdicate (retiring is not the correct word) because he wanted to marry Wallis Simpson. See also Session 2 of the lecture course.
"move into safe exile": no! Exile is a country you flee to, because you can no longer live in your home country. The Royal family at no point considered going into exile, but there were discussions of going to live outside of London.
"On August 4th 2002, she celebrated her 100th birthday": No! She was born in 1900. One does not have to study maths to know that she became 100 in 2000.
"in the center of London as the first part of the Royal Family": as the first person ever from the Royal Family?
Sources: http://www.uni-protokolle.de/Lexikon/Queen_Mum.html: this is 1. a highly doubtful and faulty source. Many of the statements made were either wrong or phrased in an unprecise, misleading way. Source is 2. very, very close to the German Wikipedia entry (I do not have the time to check which source plagiarised here). And 3. the article here is very, very close to plagiarising the source.
