Elisabeth Blount
Elisabeth Blount was born in 1502 as the daughter of Sir John Blount of Shropshire, a knight who lived in the reign of Henry VII of England, the first Tudor king of England. Not much is known about Elisabeth (who was also called "Bessie") except for her beauty and her affair with Henry VIII. When Elisabeth came to his court as a maid of honour of Henry's first wife, Katherine of Aragon, she quickly became his mistress around 1517. On June 15, 1519 Elisabeth gave birth to her son, Henry Fitzroy, who was born out of her affiar with Henry VIII. Since he was an illegitimate child, he did not qualify for the English throne. After the birth of the son Henry ended the relationship with Elisabeth and started an affair with Mary Boleyn, the wife of the courtier Sir William Carey. After that Elisabeth married Lord Gilbert Tailboys, who was said to be the son of a madman. On June 18, 1538 her son died, follwed by Lord Gilbert, who left her as a widow. Later she married Edward Clinton, 1st Earl of Lincoln. They had a daughter, called Catherine. In 1540 Elisabeth died. Accoding to te legend she died of the same disease as her son.
