David Herbert Richard Lawrence was born on 11 September 1885 in Eastwood Nottinghamshire and died on 2 March 1930 in Vence. He was an English novelist, poet, playwright, essayist, literary critic, painter and according to E.M Forster the greatest imaginative novelist of his generation.
