One of the most famous Restoration actors, renowned for taking Shakespearean parts and for starring in Restoration drama (he was the first Dorimant in George Etherege's The Man of Mode). Also very successful manager of the Duke's Company. Unjustly forgotten as author of Restoration Comedies and adaptor of Shakespearean plays.
