Talk:Thomas More

From British Culture

"London formed his mind and his heart": cut, because very, very difficult to prove. Besides: would need a source.

"Thomas adored his father. He never failed in greetings his father to go down on his knees to ask his blessing": 1. source needed; 2. going down on one's knees when encountering your parents was standard operating procedure in early modern England, no adoration involved.

"John More gave his son a comfortable life in a comfortable home, a life with chances and opportunities. His father gave him a chance to find his own place in the world, free from the fatal destiny of poorness. Thomas More was not ungrateful for the complex legacy of his father. When John More died in 1530, Thomas held the old man in his arms, kissed him and wept": 1. sources needed; 2. this does not take social structures and cultural norms of the Renaissance period into account. Argued too unhistorically.
